Wise waiting on Foxes fate
Leicester’s suspended midfielder Dennis Wise is to be kept waiting for at least another 48 hours to know his fate after his bust-up with team-mate Callum Davidson during the pre-season trip to Finland.
Wise had been expected to learn what action would be taken against him tomorrow after attending an internal enquiry on Friday to explain his part in the incident which resulted in Davidson suffering a double fracture of his cheekbone.
But Foxes chairman Martin George is viewing the affair so seriously that he has called for a collective decision to be taken by the board of directors rather than just a verdict based on the findings of himself and team manager Micky Adams.
George has returned to his holiday in Spain and, with three other directors currently out of the country, the earliest they can all meet to discuss Wise’s position is on Wednesday.
The Leicester chairman will then present the facts of the incident involving Wise and Davidson to his fellow directors, make his recommendations on what course of action should be pursued and then a vote will be taken.
The six directors who will decide what further punishment may be handed out to Wise, who was immediately sent home after the flare-up, are George, vice-chairman John Elsom, chief executive Steve Kind, Greg Clarke, Mark Fenoughty and Bill Shooter.
City are also determined not to be rail-roaded into any quickfire decision and are ensuring everything is being done by the book so there is no comeback if the course taken is to terminate Wise’s contract.
That is why he was allowed to have his legal representative and a member of the Professional Footballer’s Association present at the internal enquiry and so they could be fully acquainted with all of the facts.
A Leicester spokesman confirmed: “We now expect that an announcement regarding Dennis Wise will be made towards the end of the week.”
