Injury doubts plague semi-finalists

South Korea's star striker Ahn Jung-hwan remains doubtful for the World Cup semi-final against Germany, despite training on Monday.

Ahn trained at the Seoul World Cup stadium for the first time since injuring his ankle in the quarter-final win over Spain on Saturday.

However coach Guus Hiddink still does not know if he will be able to face the Germans and will wait until the last minute to see if he suffers any reaction to his workout.

If Ahn cannot play, he is likely to be replaced by veteran striker Hwang Sun-hong.

Kim Nam-il is also doubtful with an ankle injury, while Yoo Sang-chul is also struggling with a knock.

Hiddink will give all his injured players until Tuesday to try and prove their fitness before making his final selection.

German midfielder Dietmar Hamann is also a doubt for the match, despite appearing with the squad at a training session at the Seoul World Cup Stadium.

Hamann participated in Monday night's 80-minute session, but practiced individually when the team was doing sprint drills.

The 28-year-old twisted his right knee in the quarter-final against the United States, and coach Rudi Voller will make a late decision on him on Tuesday.

If Hamann fails the fitness test his defensive central midfield role is likely to be handed to Jens Jeremies.
