Blackburn goalkeeper Alan Kelly has announced his retirement from international football following the World Cup defeat to Spain.

Blackburn goalkeeper Alan Kelly has announced his retirement from international football following the World Cup defeat to Spain.

Kelly, 33, watched from the sidelines as Ireland missed three penalties in a dramatic shoot-out. He was third choice goalkeeper for the tournament behind Shay Given and Dean Kiely.

Team-mates Steve Staunton and Niall Quinn have also decided to call time on their international careers.
