Reds agree Diao deal

Liverpool have agreed a deal with French club Sedan for Senegal midfielder Salif Diao.

The club will now hope to discuss terms with the player once his involvement in the World Cup ends.

The 25-year-old defensive midfielder, who was an ever-present during the African Nations Cup earlier this year, is set to play in Friday’s World Cup opener against France.

Liverpool spokesman Ian Cotton said: ‘‘We have reached an agreement with Sedan for the terms of the transfer.’’
