One surprise omission from Russia squad
The Russia squad for the World Cup features only one surprise omission.
Coach Oleg Romantsev had to whittle down a preliminary 27-man squad to the 23-player limit.
And he chose to leave out 40-cap defender Omari Tetradze along with three other inexperienced midfielders.
Celta Vigo's Alexander Mostovoi was included despite sustaining a hip injury which could keep him out for three weeks.
Russia has suffered a miserable build up to the showpiece event losing to Belarus, Yugoslavia, Ireland and Estonia.
