Notts Co sign U16 international

Notts County have completed the signing of Republic of Ireland Under-16 international Shane McFaul.

Assistant manager Gary Brazil and youth-team boss John Gaunt travelled to Dublin last Friday to meet with the player who trained at the club's Centre of Excellence in February.

Brazil told the club's official website: "Despite considerable opposition from a number of First and Second Division teams, we are delighted to have won the race for his signature, and the lad has committed himself to a four-year deal with the club.

"Shane will be a marvellous addition to an excellent crop of scholars we are bringing in this summer.

"He can play as a central defender or is equally accomplished in midfield, and both John and myself are really looking forward to being able to work with the boy in the coming years."
