Ian Pearce scored a dramatic winner two minutes from the end to make sure West Ham finished in seventh place in the Premiership.
Steve Lomas gave West Ham the lead after 43 minutes after Jermain’s Defoe’s fierce drive was brilliantly saved by Jussi Jaaskelainen, and the skipper pounced to stroke home the loose ball.
Youri Djorkaeff equalised for Bolton after 67 minutes when his 20-yard free kick took a deflection and crept inside David James’ far post but Pearce stole the points late on.
