Ireland manager Mick McCarthy is due to name his 23-man squad for this summer’s World Cup finals later today.

Ireland manager Mick McCarthy is due to name his 23-man squad for this summer’s World Cup finals later today.

McCarthy has said he will remain loyal to the players who featured in the qualifying round, a comment which leaves doubt surrounding the likes of Gary Doherty, Rory Delap, Stephen Reid and Colin Healy.

It emerged over the weekend that Alan Kelly, Lee Carsley and Mark Kennedy are all fully fit and are likely to make the trip to Japan and South Korea later this month.
