Premiership: Newcastle drop two points at home

Newcastle 1 Fulham 1 (Full Time)

Newcastle return to fourth place in the Premiership following their 1-1 draw with Fulham at St James Park tonight.

Newcastle took the lead on 21 minutes when Kieron Dyer slotted past Van Der Sar after Speed's header over the top put him through.

But Fulham's persistence paid off and they drew level late in the second half.

The shot came from Davis who volleyed a poor Newcastle clearance towards goal - but the ball deflected off Louis Saha and into the net with 14 minutes left in the game.

It was a disappointing night for Bobby Robson's side who have a fight on their hands for the last Champions League place.

They lie just one point ahead of Chelsea with a game in hand.
