Champions League: United rocked by Keane injury

Manchester United captain Roy Keane looks likely to be ruled out for the rest of the month after picking up a hamstring injury in tonight’s Champions League quarter-final first leg against Deportivo La Coruna in Spain.

The midfielder looked to have suffered a serious injury after coming off second best in a challenge with Sergio during the first half.

But United boss Sir Alex Ferguson reported at half-time that his influential skipper could be back before the end of the season even though he was stretchered off shortly before the interval.

‘‘It’s a hamstring injury,’’ Ferguson told ITV Sport.

‘‘He will probably be out for three or four weeks which is good because we thought it was something more serious than that like his knee.’’

That would mean Keane could be in action for United’s final two games of their Premiership title defence, as well as a possible appearance in the Champions League final on May 15 in Glasgow.
