Longford bounced back from last week's defeat at Bohemians to remain six points ahead of Dundalk in the play-off spot.

Ex-Galway striker Fergal Coleman hit both goals.

The first arrived on 56 minutes when Coleman stabbed home after a Mark Byrne shot was parried by United keeper Mark Cobey.

Coleman added the second six minutes from time.
