Champions League: Kirkland likely to start Euro clash
Liverpool will almost certainly face Galatasaray at Anfield tomorrow night with a goalkeeper tipped as a future star for England.
Chris Kirkland, the 20-year-old who cost Liverpool £6m in August, stands by to make his European debut in the Champions League clash because Jerzy Dudek is losing his battle to recover from a groin injury.
Michael Owen will almost certainly start, after recovering from the knee injury that ruled him out for England last week.
Jamie Carragher is also available because his domestic ban does not affect European matches, while Abel Xavier stands by to make his European debut for the club.
Nicolas Anelka is cup tied, so Milan Baros is likely to make his first appearance on the Liverpool bench.
Patrik Berger and Jamie Redknapp are both still injured, while the game is likely to have come to soon for Nicky Barmby's return.
Galatasaray arrive at Anfield reeling after four men were sent off in 16 minutes as they lost their derby battle with Fenerbahce.
Two of their top stars - Alberto Capone and Hakan Unsal - are banned having been sent off in December's 2-2 draw in Barcelona, their last Champions League match.
Since the winter Champions League break, Galatasaray have lost Sergen Yalcin, after he suffered severe knee ligament damage.
He needed a complicated operation in Germany, taking tendon from his back to replaced the ruptured ligaments in his knee, and will be out for four months.
