Rovers had the look of champions as they put further pressure on relegation threaten Dundalk with this easy win.
Pat Scully headed in a Tony O'Dowd free kick for the opener on 21 minutes before Sean Francis crashed home the first of his brace three minutes later to put Rovers in command.
John Flanagan gave Dundalk hope with a goal back on 64 minutes but was then sent off as the visitors house fell in.
Billy Woods sealed Rovers' win with a third goal on 70 minutes before Francis shot home the fourth five minutes later to keep third-placed Rovers just two points off leaders Shelbourne.
