Premiership: Carbone out of Derby
Benito Carbone has played his last game for Derby, the club announced last night.
The Premiership strugglers have decided against turning his loan deal from Bradford into a permanent one.
Their decision leaves the Italian striker in limbo as Bradford’s new manager, Nicky Law, has said they cannot afford to keep him.
Carbone made 14 appearances for Derby, scoring once in the defeat of his former club, Aston Villa.
He still has two and a half years to run on his current contract at Valley Parade and Derby say it would be ‘‘unfeasible’’ to make his deal permanent.
Carbone was sent off at West Ham on St Stephen's Day and his suspension kicks in this weekend.
Chief executive Keith Loring said: ‘‘We appreciate what Beni has done in his three months at Derby and thank him for his contribution, but it would have been unfeasible to make the move permanent.’’
