Premiership: Cautious Jimmy won’t talk title

Hotshot Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink claimed Chelsea were not thinking about the championship title despite following last Sunday’s 4-0 victory over Liverpool with a 5-1 thrashing of Bolton at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues looked to be heading for another disappointing chapter in their erratic season when Kevin Nolan gave the visitors a shock third-minute lead.

But Claudio Ranieri’s men struck back just before half-time through Eidur Gudjohnsen and Hasselbaink before Boudewijn Zenden, a Colin Hendry own goal and Frank Lampard’s first for the club late on completed the rout.

But Hasselbaink said: ‘‘We don’t think about it (the championship race), we were just thinking about today and the three points.

‘‘We started very badly but with a bit of luck we did the job in the five minutes before half-time and in the second half we kept going.’’

Gudjohnsen again impressed for the Londoners against his old club.

He added: ‘‘For the first 35 minutes we couldn’t string three or four passes together, but we managed to kill the game off in the second half.

‘‘I’ve always said how much I respect Bolton as I had a lovely time there, and I’m really pleased with the reception I got.’’
