Eircom League: Dundalk and Longford draw

Stuart Holt salavaged a point for 10-man Longford who played for 75 minutes

Dundalk 1 Longford Town 1

Stuart Holt salavaged a point for 10-man Longford who played for 75 minutes

without goalkeeper Stephen O'Brien.

O'Brien paid the penalty on the double to gift Dundalk the lead after just 15 minutes.

O'Brien - such a hero for Town during their meteoric rise in recent years - was sent off when he tripped David Ward after his poor clearance from a back

pass went straight to the Dundalk striker.

Town skipper Paul McNally went in goal but was helpless to stop David Crawley's spot kick.

Dundalk failed to make their numerical advantage pay, however, and Town levelled on 70 minutes.

Shay Zellor was tumbled to the ground by Stephen McGuinness and Holt blasted

home the penalty.

The Eircom League first div clash between Finn Harps and Sligo Rovers finished one goal apiece.

The second first div clash of the evening - between Kilkenny City and Dublin City - finished two goals to City.
