Elsewhere Blackburn grabbed a late winner through Craig Hignett at Southampton while Fulham won the London derby against West Ham. Everton took the points away to Bolton.

High-flying Aston Villa were beaten 3-0 at Newcastle with goals by Craig Bellamy (two) and Alan Shearer.

Earlier this morning, struggling Leicester took the points thanks to an Akinbiyi goal against Sunderland.
