Premiership: Keane is United doubt
Roy Keane is Manchester United’s main doubt as they prepare to face table-topping Leeds United at Old Trafford tomorrow.
The Republic of Ireland star has a slight knee injury and Alex Ferguson will check on his fitness before naming his line-up for the noon kick-off.
Ferguson feels Keane will make it, saying: ‘‘Roy should be all right and we are hoping he has benefited from the rest he has had this week.’’
Keane has had to sit out United’s last three Premiership games after being sent off at Newcastle on September 15 but was available for the Champions League during that period. If he fails to make it Nicky Butt is on standby.
Andy Cole is another doubt. He missed Tuesday’s game because of a slight hamstring problem but has not been ruled out of tomorrow’s plans.
Ferguson has hinted he could start the game with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer partnering Ruud van Nistelrooy in attack. If that happens and Keane returns Paul Scholes could be the one to stand down.
