Premiership: Hoddle glad to erase painful memory
After the 3-1 win over Derby, Tottenham boss Glenn Hoddle said he was pleased to have erased the memory of his side's previous game at White Hart Lane.
Gustavo Poyet scored a spectacular chip in injury time to add to first half strikes from Les Ferdinand and Christian Ziege.
Derby fashioned an equaliser after 15 minutes through Fabrizio Ravanelli, but were second best throughout the game.
The win helped fans and players forget the 5-3 drubbing by Manchester United two weeks ago.
Hoddle said: "It gets the ghost of that game out - and now we can go on from there.
"We've performed like that and not won matches this season - but if we keep performing like that we'll win more than we lose.
"We've got to get a little more clinical, if we do that we'll get a momentum going."
He added: "I was pleased with the performance. We played well and concentrated well at the back.
"We came out of the traps not too bad but if the third had gone in earlier we'd have gone on from there.
"We created some good chances and played some good football. A few of the lads were just a split second off the timing.
"We've got some good experienced players who have got a love and a burning desire to do well - and that will rub off on the young players.
"Teddy is playing magnificently at the moment - he's a fit lad, he's an example to the youngsters.
Ziege scored a neat second goal and Hoddle singled the German out for praise.
He said: "I hoped Christian would click and fall into place because I believed he was one of the best wing-backs in the world when I was England coach.
"Perhaps his career's gone sideways in the last couple of years but I felt this club suited him and at the moment he's doing tremendously well.
"He's got five goals, but he's also a creator and at set plays he's a danger."
Hoddle also passed on the club's wishes to Liverpool counterpart Gerard Houllier, who is in a satisfactory condition following heart surgery.
Hoddle added: "We'd like to wish Gerard good luck - we're sure everything's going to be fine."
