Soccer: McCarthy’s heroes dash Dutch dreams

The Republic of Ireland last night secured victory over Holland and a play-off spot for the World Cup.

McCarthy’s team toppled the Dutch football giants by one goal to nil despite being reduced to 10 men after the sending off of Gary Kelly.

Jason McAteer was the golden boy, scoring the vital goal in the 68th minute.
