Soccer: Holland back for Dutch clash
Niall Quinn and Matt Holland have been recalled to the Irish squad for the crucial Group Two World Cup qualifier against Holland.
Quinn and Holland missed last week's 2-2 draw with Croatia in a friendly because of knee injuries.
But definitely ruled out of this crunch clash with the Dutch through injuries are Stephen Carr (Tottenham), Mark Kinsella (Charlton), Kenny Cunningham (Wimbledon) and Gary Breen (Coventry).
Clinton Morrison, who scored on his debut against the Croats, keeps his place in the squad as does Millwall midfielder Steven Reid, who also made his debut in that game.
"With a full programme of Premiership games at the weekend, I will be keeping my fingers crossed that we don't have any further injury problems," said Mick McCarthy.
Aston Villa's 32-year-old defender Steve Staunton seems certain to win his 91st cap in partnering Manchester City's Richard Dunne in the centre of the defence.
"The players who came into the squad for that game against Croatia showed that they can do a job for me against the Dutch," added McCarthy.
