Premiership: Fulham fail in £10.5m striker bid

Fulham have had a £10.5m bid for Lyon striker Steve Marlet rejected.

Fulham have had a £10.5m bid for Lyon striker Steve Marlet rejected.

Lyon are reported to want around £15m for their French international.

The French club's sporting director Bernard Lacombe confirmed Fulham's interest.

He said: "I've had Jean Tigana on the phone with a nice offer.

"But it would be impossible to accept at the present time."

The player's agent saw a promising Fulham display against Premiership champions Manchester United on Sunday.

But it is doubtful that the 27-year-old Marlet would be prepared to give up the chance of playing in the Champions League to join the London club.

Lyon would also be reluctant to see Marlet leave after Brazilian striker Sonny Anderson picked-up an injury that could rule him out for a month.
