Premiership: Carroll makes debut in Utd reserves

Manchester United's new Stg£2.5m goalkeeper Roy Carroll has made his Reds debut in a reserve friendly against Sheffield FC.

Carroll, who joined United from Wigan last week, played the whole 90 minutes in the 3-2 victory against Sheffield, who are the oldest club in the world.

The Northern Ireland international could be included in the squad for Ryan Giggs' testimonial against Celtic tomorrow after Fabien Barthez took a knock on his right ankle in United's final Far East tour match against Thailand on Sunday.

Ronnie Wallwork scored twice for United after Danny Webber had opened the scoring in a match to commemorate the opening of Sheffield's new Dronfield stadium. David May, who has been told he can leave Old Trafford, also played.
