Darren Anderton looks set to give Spurs a welcome boost by pledging his future to the club.

Following the departure of centre-half Sol Campbell, it was feared that Anderton would also leave White Hart Lane once his contract ran out this summer.

However, the player's agent Leon Angel is confident Anderton is close to signing a new deal.

He told the News of the World: "We are very close to agreeing a deal and he is looking forward to working with Glenn (Hoddle) to bring success to Tottenham."

The former England winger has been ravaged by injuries for several seasons and has yet to figure under new boss Hoddle.

However, he did manage 25 appearances last season and was even considered for an England recall until an Achilles injury forced him onto the sidelines once again.
