Premiership: Vieira bomb-shell for Gunners
Patrick Vieira has reportedly stunned Arsenal by handing in a transfer request.
The inspirational midfielder was reported last week to be unhappy with the lack of success at Highbury, despite Arsene Wenger's protests that there was 'no problem' with the Frenchman.
However, the 24-year-old was reported as saying: "I am not going to start the season with Arsenal.
"I have left. That's it and they know it. I will not move to Italy and I won't sign for another London club."
Those comments would leave the door open for a move to Spain - or Manchester United.
Gunners directors are reported to be meeting today to discuss the crisis.
It was thought that the signings of Francis Jeffers, Giovanni van Bronckhorst and Richard Wright would appease Vieira.
But the Frenchman's comments are a worrying blow to Gunners fans hoping to see their side challenge for domestic and European honours next season.
