Soccer: Taibi eyeing Premiership return

Former Manchester United goalkeeper Massimo Taibi is eyeing a return to the Premiership.

He played just four games for United last season but failed to make the right impression.

Taibi was at fault for one of Liverpool's goals in a 3-2 defeat at Anfield and then a memorable clanger against Southampton.

He allowed a long-range Matthew Le Tissier shot to go through his legs.

In the next game, Chelsea whipped United 5-0 at Stamford Bridge and although Taibi was not the weakest link in a hapless performance by the champions his United career was over.

But Taibi, who came to Old Trafford with an impressive reputation - which he is rebuilding this season with struggling Serie A outfit Reggina - has not given up his English dream.

He admitted on Channel Four's Football Italia programme: "I was sorry to have been judged on only four games."

But his miserable stint in England has left him with a burning desire to prove a point.

He continued: "I have been left with this unfulfilled desire to play again for an English club - perhaps a less ambitious side than Manchester United.

"I want to be judged on who I am now, not the mistakes I made when I was at United."
