Premiership: New Giggs deal delights Ferguson
Sir Alex Ferguson is thrilled that Ryan Giggs has followed Andy Cole and Jaap Stam in committing his future to Manchester United.
Giggs has signed a five-year deal at Old Trafford.
The new contract starts from July and commits the Wales international to United until 2006.
"I'm delighted that Ryan has agreed a new contract," said Ferguson.
"His performances over the years have thrilled the fans and he has played a big part in helping the club achieve consistent success."
United chief executive Peter Kenyon said: "The club is extremely pleased to have reached an agreement with Ryan on a new contract.
"He has played such an important role in United's achievements of the past decade and more than 10 years after his debut, Ryan is performing as well as ever.
"We look forward to even greater success for him and the team in the years to come."
Because the transfer deadline has passed, Giggs cannot officially sign his new contract until July 1.
