Soccer: Gray stakes claim for Southampton job

Stuart Gray is likely to be given the chance to build on Glenn Hoddle's good work at Southampton for the rest of the season.

First-team coach Gray turned down the chance to join Hoddle and John Gorman at Tottenham.

He is expected to be rewarded with the opportunity to stake his claim for the Saints manager's job on a full-time basis.

Gray is likely to be in charge of team affairs for Monday's visit of Ipswich to The Dell, with Southampton eighth in the Premiership table and eyeing a place in Europe.
