Champions League: United will wait for first-choice keepers
Manchester United will wait and see if Fabien Barthez or Raimond van der Gouw can recover from injury before registering Andy Goram for the Champions League.
United signed Goram as cover in a shock loan move from Motherwell.
However the Premiership leaders will give their two first-choice keepers every chance of recovering in time to face Bayern Munich in the Champions League on April 3.
Manager Sir Alex Ferguson is still hopeful that Barthez will be able to recover from his thigh problem to play in the quarter-final first leg at Old Trafford.
Van der Gouw's chances are not as good as the Dutchman is still recuperating following a knee operation.
United are in no rush to register Goram, who will be 37 next month, because UEFA have already indicated that they would be willing to let the former Scottish international play in the Champions League.
United's director of communications Paddy Harverson said: "We will wait and see how Fabien and Raimond progress before registering Andy.
"But we know it should not be a problem if we have to register him."
