Soccer: McCarthy to ignore Kelly's claims

Goalkeeper Alan Kelly is rumoured to be in line for a loan switch to Manchester United but Ireland manager Mick McCarthy is ready to put the country’s World Cup hopes in the hands of Shay Given.

The Newcastle United number one has not kept a clean sheet for 26 matches with the Magpies but he insists his confidence is still high and he can hardly wait to return to the big stage in Saturday’s Group Two qualifier against Cyprus.
