Soccer: Scotland could host world event - Blatter
Fifa president Sepp Blatter has hinted that Scotland stands a better chance of hosting a future World Club Championship than Euro 2008.
Blatter spent the weekend in Scotland to take part in the annual meeting of the International Football Association Board.
He refused to discuss Scotland's chances of hosting the next-but-one European Championships.
The Scots are considering putting forward a bid but SFA chief executive David Taylor has already stated that they could switch to the World Club Championship (WCC) instead.
That is a less prestigious event but a lucrative one nonetheless as the champions from all footballing continents do battle in a televised, 12-team tournament.
The first was in Brazil last year, and Manchester United famously pulled out of the FA Cup to take part. This year's will be in Spain.
Blatter, who went on to watch the Livingston-Peterhead Scottish Cup quarter-final, said: "I'm not going to make any comment on 2008."
But he did add about a WCC bid: "This is a real possibility for Scotland but they have to apply."
