The FAI and the government are to meet again today over the long-running issue of eircom Park and Stadium Ireland.

A final decision on whether the FAI will accept government overtures to become involved in the proposed new national stadium is expected this afternoon.

Eircom League representatives, who instigated the contact between the government and the FAI, met last night to discuss the government proposals.

The government is believed to have offered a no risk, no debt and no running costs deal to the association.

As part of this, the FAI will receive £15m a year for the next three years in advance of ticket schemes and corporate facility sales.

The association would repay half of this amount when the stadium was completed, but should the project fall through, no repayments would be required.
