Hammers fan claims Beckham spat at him
A soccer fan who taunted David Beckham after Manchester United's FA Cup defeat says the star spat in his face.
Jason Hallam claims he was teasing Beckham after his side's 1-0 defeat at home to West Ham United but he said the player gave a V-sign before spitting.
A spokeswoman for Beckham admitted the footballer stuck a finger up but denied that he spat at Mr Hallam.
Mr Hallam's father Keith said: "You don't expect England's captain to behave like that. You would never have found Bobby Moore or Bobby Charlton doing something so disgusting".
Mr Hallam said he plans to complain to Manchester United, adding: "Beckham likes to dish it out on the pitch - but he can't take a bit of stick off it. To spit in my face is just disgusting".
The incident is alleged to have happened as both Mr Hallam, his father and a friend were stuck in traffic leaving Old Trafford. West Ham fan Mr Hallam spotted Beckham's black four-wheel-drive with the star and his wife Victoria inside.
The 21-year-old caught the star's attention and began kissing his shirt badge and making one-nil signs.
"I leaned out of my window to show my West Ham shirt and I got a V-sign from Beckham so I did the same back. I was obviously on a high after our win and it was just a joke."
The Hallams claim Beckham then rolled down his car window and spat. "He missed, but he spat a second time and it splattered across my glasses. It was all over my face. Then they drove off. I just couldn't believe what had happened".
Beckham's spokeswoman said: "They were shouting stuff too disgusting to repeat. They were leaning out of their car windows, banging on the Lincoln. Brooklyn was really freaked out by it - really scared. As they drove off, David just stuck a finger up - it was only human in the circumstances after what he'd been subjected to".
