Neville could face FA charge after alleged tunnel row

Gary Neville has been reported to the Football Association following an alleged incident in the tunnel after Manchester United's FA Cup defeat against West Ham.

It is believed that the England full-back abused an assistant referee in the tunnel at Old Trafford.

Neville is likely to face an FA misconduct charge.

The FA have confirmed that referee Paul Durkin noted the incident and will be making a full report.

"We are still to receive a match report from the official, but we have had verbal confirmation from the referee that there was an incident involving Gary Neville at the end of the game," said an FA spokesman.

"This did not result in a sending off. However, he is reporting the incident."

Neville appeared to be protesting about the four minutes of injury time added on by Durkin.

He and his Manchester United team-mates believed Durkin should have allowed more time as the Hammers took their time over set-pieces, with Stuart Pearce taking all their goal kicks due to an injury which hampered keeper Shaka Hislop.

United boss Sir Alex Ferguson fumed afterwards: "He (Durkin) added four minutes on but I felt it should have been a lot more than that. They don't really take time, they just guess it."

The FA's compliance department will view evidence of the incident this week and if a charge is to be brought Neville will be given 14 days to request a personal hearing.
