Premiership: Villa need another striker - James
David James has warned Aston Villa not to expect record signing Juan Pablo Angel to solve the club's goal drought on his own.
And the Villa keeper has also urged the club to buy another striker.
Angel, signed from River Plate for £9.5million, is expected to make his home debut in Wednesday's Premiership game with Leeds.
But James knows it will take more than Angel, who lasted just over an hour of Saturday's away match with Manchester United, to improve the joint second worst scoring record in the Premiership.
Villa have hit the net just 23 goals from 22 matches and Dion Dublin has managed just five goals all season and has now gone six matches since last scoring.
James, who is due to continue talks over a new contract, said: "After seeing Angel on the training pitch for a few days plus his hour or so at Old Trafford on Saturday, I think he is going to be good.
"But he isn't going to be able to do it on his own. Everyone thinks that now we have got our man things are going to be okay and it's a case of 'problem solved.'
"But we seriously have to think about bringing someone else in. If you look at how many shots we've had on target in the last four games, I think it amounts to about eight.
"Only Manchester United, Arsenal and Sunderland - the top three in the Premiership - have better defensive records and yet our goal difference is minus one which is a joke."
