Sky set to broadcast 33 games with 3pm Saturday starts

Everton v Tottenham will launch a new experience for Irish viewers on August 13 — Saturday 3pm matches live on Sky Sports.

Sky have secured Irish rights to English football’s traditional kick-off time for the first time and will broadcast 33 games matches in that slot during the 2016/17 season, beginning at Goodison Park on the opening weekend. These games will not be broadcast live in the UK.

In all, Sky Sports will offer Irish customers a record 159 Premier League games during the new campaign, up 43 on last season.

Regular Friday Night Football also makes its debut, with Jose Mourinho’s Old Trafford bow featuring first when Manchester United host Southampton on August 19th at 8pm.

There will be 12 Friday games screened, with Antonio Conte’s Chelsea entertaining Liverpool in the second Friday night fixture on the September 16th.

Champions Leicester City will get the season underway when they travel to newly-promoted Hull City on August 13th for a 12.30 kick-off that will be screened on Sky Sports.

New television company eir Sport - which acquired Setenta Sports - will also show Premier League fixtures in Ireland on BT Sport 1 and 2.

BT open with Pep Guardiola’s first official game as Manchester City boss (Saturday August 13th, 5.30pm) and will screen the clash of last season’s top two on August 20th, when Arsenal visit the King Power Stadium for Leicester’s first home game.

Liverpool’s home tie with Leicester on September 10th and Arsenal’s clash with Chelsea on September 24th also feature on eir Sport’s schedule for the first two months.
