Patrick McEleney spares Dundalk’s blushes against Wexford Youths

Stephen Kenny’s side had looked on course for their second defeat of the campaign after twice trailing to strikes from Paul Murphy and Eric Molloy.

However, a goal direct from a corner from Darren Meenan and a stoppage time intervention from McEleney ensured they will lead the table no matter what happens in Friday’s top of the table clash away to Cork City. After coming flying out of the traps, the wind was taken out of the home side’s sails when they fell behind after 12 minutes. Murphy showed great strength to hold off a challenge from Chris Shields before unleashing a 30 yard shot that bounced just in front of Gary Rogers before crashing into the bottom left hand corner of the net.
