Cork’s first team coach, John Cotter, concedes that the Rebels had a “disappointing” start to the game against Wexford at Turner’s Cross and, even after belatedly getting into their stride, it took a late goal from Mark O’Sullivan to salvage a point.

“We gave the initiative to Wexford,” he says, “but from the second half on, with the chances we created, the tempo we played at was a lot higher, and on another night we could have had a few more goals — but you have to take those chances.”
