Everton’s no to PSG bid for Seamus Coleman

Everton have rejected a sensational €30 million bid for Ireland defender Seamus Coleman from Paris Saint-Germain.

The French champions were offering a player-plus-cash deal worth more than £20m for the Donegal man.

However, according to talkSPORT, Everton rejected the offer. The Toffees have already rejected three bids from Chelsea for another of their defenders, England youngster John Stones. Everton boss Roberto Martinez has been adamant none of his star names will be leaving, however.

“It’s vitally important to show that we have got our own ambitions and our own projects and we don’t rely on big offers coming in.”

There have been moves inwards at Everton yesterday, Uruguayan striker Leandro Rodriguez completing a move from River Plate Montevideo for an undisclosed fee.

The 22-year-old forward has signed a four-year deal and the Toffees also hope to tie up a deal for Argentinian central defender Ramiro Funes Mori.

“We’re very excited; Leandro’s someone who can produce a goal out of nothing,” said Martinez.

Meanwhile, Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has called on his squad to eliminate the individual errors which have plagued their start to the season.

“If we have two points after three games, it is not because we have a lack of player or we don’t sign one striker or one keeper — it is because we make some mistakes like at Leicester or Stoke after we were 2-0 up,” Pochettino said.

“This is not about signing a player. This is about competing much better and this is our focus now,” he said. “Never in football can you switch off for one second — after it happened at Leicester there was a mistake, we conceded a goal — and in the Premier League and a professional team like us we need to avoid that.”

Pochettino added to his squad yesterday with the arrival of Son Heung-min in a £22m (€30m) deal from Bayer Leverkusen. The South Korea forward, 23, will wear the number seven shirt after signing a five-year contract.
