Having fallen awkwardly early in the game, Dunleavy received lengthy treatment on the pitch before being stretchered off, and the apparent seriousness of the injury at the time has since been confirmed by specialists.

Described as “a meniscal” injury — or cartilage tear — the problem, although affecting the same knee, is not related to an existing cartilage issue which the player had been managing in recent times.
