All of the good football on the night was played by the visitors, who themselves had been going through a gruelling 24 hours off the field.

Bray opened their league account when Cassidy scored from the spot on six minutes.

Sligo levelled matters in the 17th minute of the first half when Steven Beattie found the net.

Bray’s Adam Mitchell was sent off in the 37th minute but the setback failed to dampen the visitors’ determination or will to win.

The Bit O’Red were rocked again as the half entered stoppage time, when Cassidy netted again.

Sligo were reduced to 10 men when Keith Ward was red carded early in the second half and the visitors took full advantage, when Cassidy completed his hat trick in the 70th minute.

John Russell had one good chance for the hosts to pull one back but his effort came back off the bar.
