Fellaini’s Napoli loan move now in doubt

Marouane Fellaini’s proposed loan move to Napoli is in doubt after the Belgian was pictured on crutches following a reported training ground injury.

Manchester United are yet to comment on the extent of the injury, but it is expected to hit the club’s intention to off-load the midfielder to the Italian Serie A side before the end of the transfer window.

Photographs of Fellaini showed the 26-year-old on crutches with his left foot in a protective cast. Fellaini has endured a disappointing career at Old Trafford since his £27.5million move from Everton on transfer deadline day last summer.

Meanwhile Bayern Munich striker Thomas Muüller revealed he turned down an “astronomical” offer to join Manchester United this summer.

The 24-year-old subsequently ended speculation about his future by signing a five-year contract extension with the Bundesliga giants.

But Müller has admitted: “Of course — I was aware I could theoretically earn more with a transfer, but a change was never really an issue anyway.”
