Fellaini’s afro gets the chop
Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini had vowed to get rid of what RTÉ analyst Brian Kerr last week branded a “big bushy head” if Belgium won the World Cup.
That ambition was not realised as Belgium bowed out at the quarter-final stage after a 1-0 defeat by finalists Argentina, but a picture posted by the player with his hairdresser on his Instagram account yesterday showed Fellaini has opted to have a haircut anyway.
The afro kept Kerr entertained throughout the World Cup, with the former Ireland boss suggesting Fellaini’s hair was causing him trouble with officials.
“When you’ve a big mop of black hair like that, you’re more than likely to get picked on by the referee,” he said.
Having got the chop, Fellaini will look like a new player next season.
But, having endured a torrid first season at Old Trafford following his move from Everton, United fans will hope the midfielder plays like a new one too.
