Everton boss: Coleman among world’s best

Roberto Martinez has hailed Seamus Coleman as one of the best full-backs in the world.

The Everton manager’s comments come after the Irish international thrilled Goodison Park with some outrageous pieces of skill in the 3-0 defeat of Arsenal last Sunday, including a solo run out of defence juggling the ball first on his head and then on his instep and, later, a Cruyff-like moment of sleight of foot which left Santi Cazorla flummoxed.

“It’s that good arrogance, footballing arrogance,” said Martinez. “You can’t teach that. Seamus has had that for a long, long time, it’s just being able to express himself like that on top of all his duties and the responsible things he has to do for the team.
