I could have been badly injured, says Meyler
Meyler could easily have suffered a broken leg following the reckless attempt at a tackle from former Liverpool defender Dossena in first-half stoppage time.
Meyler, who twice had to fight back from career threatening knee injuries while he was playing for Sunderland, tweeted: “Thanks for all the nice messages from both sets of fans. I’m very lucky to escape without a serious injury.”
Meyler did manage to play on at the start of the second-half but was replaced after 57 minutes by Robert Koren.
Hull picked up their fourth win of the season against the visiting Black Cats, who played the second half with nine men following red cards to Lee Cattermole and Dossena, thanks to a Carlos Cuellar own-goal after 25 minutes.
