Rising star McCarthy up for dual gongs

James McCarthy, Kevin Doyle and Keith Andrews are the three nominees for the FAI Senior Player of the Year award at next month’s International Football Awards, which take place on Sunday Feb 3.

McCarthy is also in the running to be named Young Player of the Year — with Robbie Brady and Seamus Coleman also vying for the gong.

Three goals have been nominated for the Three International Goal of the Year and they include; Marc Wilson for his long distance strike against the Faroe Islands in the World Cup Qualifier Group C clash, Robbie Brady for his debut goal against Oman in a friendly in September while Kevin Doyle is nominated for his last minute winner against Kazakhstan which helped Ireland secure a vital three points in their opening Group C World Cup Qualifier last September.

The awards will be broadcast live on RTÉ Two at 8pm and streamed live on RTÉ.ie within the Republic of Ireland.
