Phil Brown remains in contention for the job of Limerick manager after Fleetwood Town yesterday announced the appointment of a new boss.

Former Hull City manager Brown, who has held discussions with Limerick, had also been in the running for the vacant position at Fleetwood but the League Two side have now named Preston’s head of youth football Graham Alexander as their new manager.

That leaves open the possibility of Brown, who was recommended to Limerick by their one-time boss Sam Allardyce, becoming the successor to Pat Scully on Shannonside.
