Hunt: We can beat United
The Royals have won just one game in 13 and this evenings visitors are Manchester United – not the best of fixtures when you are struggling.
Ireland striker Noel Hunt sees no reason why Reading cannot turn over United in the televised game.
“We know we have got a big one against United,” he said. “It would be nice to kick our season off with that. If you look at where we are in the league it is going to be hard work to get us out of it.
“We need to get them things right a bit more care in the final third and it might be a different story a bit more in the final third and it could be a different story.”
The Waterford man insists the Royal will not motivating for any of the games in the top flight.
Hunt explained: “We are all in it as a team. The only way we can progress is by sticking together — keep the bond strong. The Premier League is the best in the world. We know what we have to do. We were a lot more solid against Villa.”
The hard working striker has made 10 Premier League appearances so far but understands he will not start every game. He said: “Obviously I want to play every week but it is the squad we have and I have to keep plugging away. I work harder, I have had a couple of injuries but I have got over them. In a squad like we have we have got four good strikers. You cant disrespect anyone in our squad.
“Even Wayne Rooney is not going to play in every game this season. Its all rotation and all about horses for courses. Hopefully my chances will come.”
