Germans get cash incentive

Germany players will earn €20,000 for every World Cup qualifier they have played in if they make it to the 2014 tournament in Brazil, the DFB, the country’s football association said last night.

Each player will earn the same amount per participation as for the 2010 World Cup qualifiers but only if they book a spot in the 2014 showcase.

“I am happy with the speed and problem-free procedure that this agreement was reached,” DFB chief Wolfgang Niersbach said. “This shows the trust between the federation and the team.”
