Coleman finds form but Trap is unlikely to be moved

With the World Cup qualifier against Germany less than two weeks away, it’s good to see Seamus Coleman coming back towards his best form, and crucially, doing so while playing at right-back.

Coleman finds form but Trap is unlikely to be moved

Coleman has always looked a more natural fit at right-back than right-wing, and Everton’s evolution into a more dominant attacking side means that David Moyes has at last got comfortable with the idea of using him there. Coleman’s driving run and cross for Nikica Jelavic’s second goal against Southampton was one of the best pieces of play in the league over the weekend. One hopes Trapattoni sees the DVD.

Coleman is now a better right-back than John O’Shea, who is a better central defender than Sean St Ledger. Yet St Ledger will likely play centre-back against Germany, with O’Shea at right-back and Coleman on the bench.
